Thread is a relationship-based youth development organization in Baltimore City. They partner with at-risk ninth graders, committing to support them for a full decade—through high school and beyond—providing mentorship, community, and meaningful connections to foster success. Thread’s long-term approach focuses on building social capital, promoting academic persistence, and supporting students through transitional life challenges. Their model is rooted in the power of enduring connections between youth and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
We Rise is a mentorship and neighborhood revitalization initiative in Baltimore aimed at building generational wealth through financial literacy, affordable homeownership, and hands-on community development. Young people in the program learn the skills needed to repair and rehabilitate homes, understand real estate processes, and gain financial responsibility. The model intertwines education, mentorship, and civic engagement, empowering youth while revitalizing Baltimore’s inner-city neighborhoods.
Charities MUST be a 501(c)(3) non-profit OR an organization that is able to collect tax-deductible donations to participate. Winning charities will also be required to sign a photo release form. When thinking about nominations, we encourage you to consider the following factors:
