Weekend Backpacks Baltimore is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children and families facing food insecurity throughout Baltimore City. The organization provides nutritious, easy-to-prepare food for students to take home on weekends, helping bridge the gap when school meal programs are unavailable.
Each week, Weekend Backpacks works with local schools and community partners to make sure children have access to dependable meals outside the classroom. Their support helps reduce the stress that food insecurity can place on both students and their families while giving children a better chance to return to school ready to learn.
In addition to food assistance, the organization also provides school supplies and other seasonal necessities when needed. By supporting Weekend Backpacks Baltimore, our community can help local children and families have greater access to the basic resources they need throughout the school year.
Roberta’s House is a Baltimore-based nonprofit organization that provides grief support to children, adults, and families who have experienced the death of someone close to them. Their programs are designed to create a safe and supportive environment where people can process grief, connect with others who have experienced similar losses, and develop healthy ways to cope.
The organization offers a variety of grief-support services, including peer support groups, therapeutic programs, community outreach, and assistance for families dealing with sudden or traumatic loss. Roberta’s House also works with schools and community organizations to provide support following difficult events that affect children and families.

Charities MUST be a 501(c)(3) non-profit OR an organization that is able to collect tax-deductible donations to participate. Winning charities will also be required to sign a photo release form. When thinking about nominations, we encourage you to consider the following factors:
